It's been a busy few weeks! A reminder that if you need a frequent dose of ICF-ness, Cam is pretty good about capturing moments of vegetable-themed beauty on a regular basis through instagram. You can connect here:
#weirdcarrots are a thing on the internet, with most traffic coming from Russia.
Here are some highlights from the past few...
In chronological order, not implying a ranking of value or worth.
1. Purslane made its first appearance in an ICF weekly share a few weeks back! What an amazing plant! Makes a lovely addition to a salad, kinda like sprouts, with a crunchy texture and lemon zing. Grows like a weed, and is often considered a weed in the garden, but is full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidant compounds. Check out this website for more info.
2. East Van Bees honey sample! Steve from East Van Bees is opening up shares to his new CSA (Community-Supported Apiary!!). He was generous enough to place a sample of Collingwood-Renfrew neighbourhood honey into each ICF share. If you are interested in signing up for a share of his honey, check out his website:
3. Luppolo Brewing has a few small batches of ICF fresh hopped magic fermenting right now! We harvested our hops last week and the fine-folks at Luppolo even let us process on-site. From field (yard) to pot (brewing kettle) in about 6 hours is an amazing feat and we're excited to sample all of the hard work and dedication that went into the process. We will let you know when it is ready, stay tuned!
4. Veggies! Some highlights from the last few week:
- Thai basil
- Green beans
- Kuri Squash
- Delicate swiss chard
